PICA is currently seeking Early Head Start Assistant Teachers.
Job Title: Early Head Start Assistant Teacher
Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The Early Head Start Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in planning, implementing, and evaluating child development experiences for children enrolled in Early Head Start.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Assist the Teacher in maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Support the Teacher in planning and providing an individualized curriculum for children.
• Assist the Teacher with completing all required documentation, including lesson plans and incident reports.
• Take responsibility for classroom operations in the absence of the Teacher.
• Participate in Mediator Team meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
•Must have at least a CDA for the infant/toddler age group or an AA degree with infant/toddler coursework.
•Strong communication, record-keeping, writing, and computer skills.
•Experience working in early childhood development and knowledge of child development stages.
•Ability to work effectively with individuals from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
•Dependable attendance is required.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding sensitive child and family information.
•This position requires repetitive physical activity, including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and the ability to lift and safely carry at least 50 pounds.
Starting Salary: $21.63/hr
Supervised by: Center Director
