Job Title: Head Start Education Coordinator
FULL-TIME/EXEMPT
Job Summary: The Head Start Education Coordinator provides educational leadership, technical assistance, coaching, and program support to promote high-quality education services across the Head Start program. Reporting directly to the Education Director, this position partners with Center Directors and teaching staff to support curriculum implementation, professional development, child outcomes, and continuous program improvement while ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing requirements, and agency policies.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Provide technical assistance in designing and implementing plans for improving early childhood programming for children ages 3 – 5 years.
• Develop program guidelines in the areas of curriculum, instructional materials, and methods.
• Review research, literature, and legislation and consult with experts in the child development field to ascertain current and future trends.
• Identify the training needs of teaching staff and develop and manage timely responses to those needs, ensuring a high standard of training and facilitation.
• Assist with planning, development, and administration of a designated portion of the annual staff in-service. (PICA U)
• Keep current with changes in legislation and regulations, policies, and procedures that may affect Head Start programs, particularly in the area of early childhood services.
• Conduct fact-finding studies involving reported problems in educational service delivery to children and recommend appropriate corrective action to solve such problems.
• Prepare clear, sound, technically accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Serve on an Apprentice Assessment team.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
• Arrange, facilitate, participate in, and/or implement conferences, trainings, events, and meetings.
• Regularly review the progress of work of supervisees; ensure that questions have been answered, decisions have been acted upon, and problems have been resolved.
• Collaborate with Early Head Start Education Coordinator.
• Aggregate and review child outcomes to be used for program planning and teacher T/TA.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in early childhood development or closely related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License and dependable means of transportation.
• Experience as lead teacher in Head Start or another Early childhood program.
• Ability to learn how to use an Apple computer and its applications.
• Ability to work well with individuals from varied ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Ability to give assignments and instruction to assigned employees, provide them with needed advice and assistance, and check their work to ensure proper procedures are followed, reasonable standards of workmanship are maintained, and that desired objectives are achieved.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff, parents, and the general public.
• This position requires repetitive physical activity, including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and the ability to lift and safely carry at least 50 pounds.
Pay Range: $39,529-$87,360
